“Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop.”
Ansel Adams — Quote Source
In the pursuit of excellence, the photographer hopes to create works of art each and every time he creates a composition, however the more sensible photographer understands that events that are not under our control makes that target a hopeless one. World renown photographer Ansel Adams claimed that if a photographer could create 12 significant images in any 12 month period then he had created good crop.
My aim during this project is to do just that, I intend to create images all year with the hope of creating 12 significant images. What is a significant image? Photography has always been and always will be a very subjective hobby/profession, however my opinion of a significant image is this; An image that provokes an emotion in either the photographer or their audience, the image should be one that the photographer would be happy to display in their portfolio and not as a part of a set but a stand alone image either in full colour or monochrome.
As I work through the project potential images will be displayed on social media and on this website, all images displayed will not be final until December 2022 where 12 images will be chosen and displayed here as my final 12 significant images.
